SSLOW Naturally, from San Sebastian.
A philosophy before a brand. And a brand before a business.
We live in a society that is increasingly sensitive to people’s health and the health of the environment. 60% of the millennial generation is willing to pay more for sustainable, eco-friendly products, which makes these kinds of brands grow 30% faster than other businesses. But there’s a problem: the world is full of green brands.
And in this context, creating a new brand from scratch becomes more delicate.
SSLOW was born as a consulting challenge. A challenge that meant helping a prestigious consultant and technology contributor to media like El País, Jose Mendiola, to identify, synthesize, narrate and then begin to build a new brand. Working on his project’s strategy from scratch. From reflecting on tone and positioning. To the very last tool to tell it. Leaving behind the outdated herbalist-shop concept and embracing a culture of the sustainable and the natural from a unique perspective. Different, tied to a place that had never been told through sustainability. And making all of it something more than credible: persuasive and convincing.
Being a sustainable brand is no longer enough. You have to stand out with something more. And after plenty of research and going around in circles, we realized the answer was very close. In fact, we are part of it: our city. The fourth most sustainable in Spain. With 8.17 m² of parks per inhabitant and more than 65 km of bike lanes.
We decided our physical territory would be the cradle of the story. And of the visual identity. To do it, we turned emblematic spaces of the city and its culture into pictures.
We created a visual pattern from the city’s iconic geometries. A visual alphabet with which to build the brand’s future iconography.
And we created the name SSLOW, to associate it with a lifestyle surrounded by nature and respect for it. Sustainability with natural style, from the city where lifestyle is a natural hallmark of identity.
“Incredible. Speechless!! What a team."
